Companions Wanted

Connect with others

Each year, hundreds of cyclists grab their maps, plan their tours, pack their panniers or trailers, and head for the open roads and trails of America. Many of these intrepid two-wheeled travelers would like to have company for the journey. If you’re looking for a touring companion for your adventure, here’s the place to start. The cyclists below are all members of the Adventure Cycling Association, and they’re getting ready to pack up and take off.

Please note: Adventure Cycling assumes, but cannot verify, that the persons advertising here are truthfully representing themselves. You should always take some time to meet your prospective traveling companions and discuss your tour plans before you begin your travels together.

This is not a service or space for cycling personal ads nor is it a cycling dating service. Nor is it a space to advertise commercial bike tours. We will only post ads that are not commercial in nature.

(Submitting a Companions Wanted is only available to Adventure Cycling members. All listings are reviewed by staff before posting. Anyone can respond to a listing.)

Route 66 EB, Chicago to DC – April 2026

Created: May 28, 2025

2026 is the 100 year anniversary of Route 66 – so I plan to ride it when I am 66! Starting in Santa Monica, riding through the Mojave Desert and all the states in between to Chicago. I Chicago, I will pick up the ACA Chicago to NYC route, but will deviate in Pittsburg, PA to Washington, DC via the GAP and C&O routes. This will be my fourth coast to coast bicycle tour.
Looking for another person to share this experience with. I did the Pacific Coast solo, and did not quite care for it. Please let me know if you are interested. Planning on an early April start.

Missoula to Denver starting June 11

Companions Wanted is up again. Yippie! I’ve used it successfully three times over the years. I’ll be on the TransAm from Missoula to Wisdom and then the Eastern Express to get out of the Rockies. I’m an upper 70’s male with years of touring experience. The trip will be mostly camping averaging 60ish miles a day but a bit less the first few days as I acclimate to higher elevations. I would enjoy having one or two companions to share the experience with. Join me for all or part of the ride,
Jim

Riding Partner For My First Trans Am in 2026

Created: May 18, 2025

Leaving Yorktown, VA April 27th 2026. Hope to find a nice lady who likes to have fun to share the Adventures. I’m 61 and a Medical Professional. I have been a cyclist most of my life. Stopped for a while but getting back in great shape.
Will be ready to average 60 miles a day. If you can keep up with that pace then we should finish the Trail by end of July at latest. Planning 1 day a week off on average. I love Music, History, and talking to people.
Will be camping mostly, but like to play it by ear. So most the fun is the improvising decisions that make the Adventure possible.
Would like to stay on the Trans American Trail as much as possible, but still have fun. Will bring all the usual tech, but will try to use only Adventure Maps as much as I can.
If you can play a musical instrument that would be great. But you don’t have to be anything but yourself and willing to take your time and have fun. Nothing is in stone except it’s all about having fun and not quitting.

bicycle companion wanted……preferably female.

Created: May 13, 2025

I am Phil, fit a 72 year old male bicyclist from Sydney, Australia. On different trips, I have cycled over half way around the world. I am looking for a bicycle companion, preferably a female, to join me in exactly 12 months from now, in May of 2026. But I would also consider a male. The trip will be mostly camping. I intend to bicycle north from Quesnel in British Columbia, Canada to Tuktoyactuk, 3,132 kilometres at the top of the continent. I began this trip 2 years back in Seattle and rode 620 kilometres to Quesnel( I got a car lift for one section). But way north the Alaskan highway got closed by bushfires. So I went back to Australia. Thanks, Phil
